history
The history of dairy goes back to the Polish cooperative movement at the beginning of the 20th century. Władysław Grabski was one of the supporters of the first cooperative foundations in the Łowicz region . The later Prime Minister of Poland initiated the establishment of the Farmers' Society in Bocheń ( Spółki Rolniczej w Bocheniu ), which in 1906 led to the establishment of one of the first dairy cooperatives in the Vistula government .
From 1922 to 1926, further milk cooperatives were founded in the region. In 1930 the steam-driven milk processing (Spółdzielnia Mleczarska Parowa ) was introduced here, from which in 1934 the cooperative dairy "Promień" ( Okręgowa Spółdzielnia Mleczarska "Promień" ) emerged. During the Second World War , production was under the supervision of the German occupation. In May 1943 part of the facilities was destroyed; There were executions of Polish soldiers on the premises. After the reconstruction, the factory came under state supervision in 1951. In 1957 the cooperative was renewed and accepted as a member of the Association of Dairy Cooperatives ( Związek Spółdzielni Mleczarskich ) formed in Warsaw .
As part of the consolidation of the Polish dairy industry at the beginning of the 21st century, the dairy cooperative in Toruń was taken over in 2004 and the one in Lubin two years later . Today, around 7,000 milk suppliers from the voivodeships of Łódź, Kuyavian-Pomerania , Mazovia , Greater Poland and Lower Silesia supply the OSM Łowicz. The managing director of the company is Jan Dąbrowski. The better-known brands include “Capriolla”, “Emdamer” (cheese), “Łowickie”, “Mona”, “Opti”, “Parkadia” and “TSM”.
OSM Łowicz is a member of the Krajowy Związek Spółdzielni Mleczarskich ZR association .
