GeoSentric Oyj is a 1988 under the name of Benefon Oyj based in Salo -based Finnish company, in business mobile phones and GPS devices operates. GeoSentric specializes in devices that combine mobile telephony and GPS and, according to its own information, sells these in around 20 countries. The company is listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.

In 2004, the company, then still under the name Benefon, had serious financial difficulties and had to apply for bankruptcy protection. It then partnered with Octagon Holdings , who invested in the niche company. On June 21, 2005, CEO Tomi Raita announced that the restructuring of the company had been successful and bankruptcy was averted. Work began on a new line of products called Twig , which combines GPS and alarm systems. So z. B. the Twig Locator independently transmit its position.

In March 2007, Benefon announced the takeover of the start-up company GeoSolutions, which is also active in the GPS sector, and its 13 employees. On June 28, 2007, Benefon was finally renamed GeoSentric.
