Geologists Iceland ( Russian Остров Геологов , German geologists Island ) is a 400 m long island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located in the entrance to Hydrographers Cove on the Fildes Peninsula from King George Island .
Soviet scientists named them in the course of surveys they carried out in 1968 from the Bellingshausen station . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 1978.
