Georg Herbert

Georg Herbert (* 1947 in Dortmund ) is a German lawyer. He was presiding judge at the Federal Administrative Court .

Career

After two years of military service, which he completed as a lieutenant dR, and completing his legal training in Munich and Freiburg, he began his career as a probationary judge at the Freiburg Administrative Court in August 1975 . In June 1976 he was assigned to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant by Konrad Hesse , where he passed numerous senate decisions, including a. the ruling on the Codetermination Act. Appointed judge for life in 1979, he worked at the Freiburg Administrative Court until February 1984. After being seconded to the Baden-Württemberg Administrative Court, he was appointed judge at the Administrative Court in January 1985. From June 1992 to October 1993 he was seconded to the Saxon State Ministry of Justice, where he worked as deputy head of the public law department and chairman of the standards control committee. On November 1, 1993 he was appointed judge at the Federal Administrative Court. There he was a judge of the 7th Revision Senate, which was responsible for environmental law and the regulation of open property issues. Since August 1, 2008, he has been the presiding judge of the 2nd Revision Senate responsible for public service law and the Disciplinary Senate.

In addition to his main job, since 2004 he has led and managed the Art and Justice Association in the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig , which organized concerts of classical music, readings and film screenings in its large conference room and large hall.

After entering legal retirement, he began studying at the Fernuniversität in Hagen in autumn 2012, completing it in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in cultural studies (history and philosophy) and in January 2018 with a master's degree in history. His master's thesis on The Role of the USPD in the Council of People's Representatives in 1918 was published in 2018.
