George of Bila

Georg von Bila , contemporary Jorge von Bylaw and similar, (* in the 15th century; † 1559 ) was a German canon and archbishop churchman of Magdeburg and owner of the spiritual fiefdom of St. Maria Magdalena on the bridge in Mühlhausen .

origin

He came from the Thuringian noble family von Bila . From 1506 Georg von Bila studied theology at the University of Frankfurt an der Oder . He paid 177 guilders for elections and major praisees in 1520/21 and became the owner of the benefices of the altar of 1000 virgins in the St. Ulrich's Church in Magdeburg, which was demolished after 1945. Later he became canon of Magdeburg and owner of the Christian fiefdom of St. Maria Magdalena on the bridge in Mühlhausen, for which he regularly received 35 gold guilders as interest from the mayor and council of the city of Kelbra , which was due annually on the day of light measurement in 1558 and was already due to his ancestors have been paid over the years. Georg von Bila used the money to support his unmarried sister Helena von Bila.
