George Manville Fenn (born January 3, 1831 in London , † August 26, 1909 in Isleworth ) was an English children's author.

After initially receiving private tuition, he went to Battersea Training College for Teachers between 1851 and 1854. Afterwards he was the headmaster (Master) of a small school in Lincolnshire for some time , then became a printer and published since 1862 a little successful magazine for poetry, the "Modern Meter". Then he took over a partnership with the "Hertfordshire and Essex Observer", which however also turned out to be not very lucrative.

Fenn began writing for various magazines such as Chamber's Journal and All the Year Round . In 1870 he became the editor of Cassell's Magazine and, between 1873 and 1879, of Once a Week . He published a large number of children's books, mostly intended for boys, most of which have been reprinted in the United States.

Since 1855 Fenn was married to Susanna Leake, with whom he had two sons and six daughters.
