Georges Lote

Georges Lote (born May 19, 1880 in Lorient , † October 15, 1949 in Aix-en-Provence ) was a French Romanist .

life and work

Georges-Ernest Lote completed his habilitation with abbé Jean-Pierre Rousselot (1846–1924) with the two theses L'Alexandrin français, d'après la phonétique expérimentale (Paris 1913, Geneva 1975) and La Rime et l'enjambement étudiés dans l ' alexandrin français (Paris 1913). He was French lecturer at the University of Bonn and professor of French language and literature at the University of Aix-en-Provence (successor: Charles Rostaing). He is best known for his monumental (mostly posthumously published) history of French verse art .
