biography

Avlichos was born and raised in Lixouri, a relative of his was the two years younger anarchist Mikelis Avlichos . His family originally came from Germany and was formerly called Aulich . Georgios Avlichos studied painting in Naples and continued his studies in Germany before settling on the island forever. In addition to his work as a painter, he wrote poems in the simple Dimotiki version of the Greek language, which was unusual at the time and was first published in 1888. In Athens, his works of art in exhibitions at the Zappeion aroused people's hearts because they deviated from the style of the Munich school that was predominant in Greece.
