Paired Associative Stimulation

The paired associative stimulation ( engl. : Paired Associative Stimulation , PAS ) provides a method to study the functional ability reorganization represents the nervous system.

Basics

In paired associative stimulation, electrically induced stimulation of a peripheral nerve is paired with synchronous transcranial magnetic stimulation over the motor cortex . As a result of the paired associative stimulation, mainly cortical adaptation phenomena result, which are expressed in a persistent change in synaptic interactions.
