Gerardo Lugo Gómez (born March 13, 1955 ) is a retired Mexican soccer player whose regular position was in midfield . He is the father of the football player Édgar Gerardo Lugo, who was born on December 31, 1984 .

Gerardo Lugo began his professional career in 1974/75 in the service of CF Atlante , for whom he was under contract until 1978 and where he ended his career in the 1986/87 season.

In between he played six years for Cruz Azul (1978-1984) and at least one season for Club León (1984/85). No data are available about his club membership in the 1985/86 season. In the 1978/79 and 1979/80 seasons he was with Cruz Azul champions of the Primera División .

National team

In 1978 and 1979, Lugo played a total of nine times for the Mexican national soccer team and scored two goals.

He made his international debut on February 15, 1978 in a test match against El Salvador (5-1), in which he also scored his first goal for "el Tri". His last international match was on December 18, 1979 against the same opponent, and this game ended 1: 1.

Lugo usually played the role of a substitute or substitute and only played two full international matches: on January 6, 1979 against the Soviet Union and on November 1, 1979 against Peru. Mexico won both games 1-0.
