The Gerberngassbrunnen is a fountain in Solothurn at Gerberngasse 2.

history

The fountain is mentioned in the fountain book of 1717; in that of 1841 it is referred to as the “community fountain on the old town bathing place”. The current fountain from the late 18th century was originally set up on the north facade of the old town bath. On the occasion of the new construction of the old Solothurn commercial bank in 1847, the fountain basin was relocated to the east instead of the bath.

description

It is a Louis Seize wall fountain made from Solothurn limestone with a semicircular ribbed conch shell . The fluted fountain shaft has a crowning of pine cones and geometrizing side volutes .
