Gerda (or Gerdr or Gerd ) in Norse mythology is the daughter of the giant Gymir , who is famous for her beauty and who Freyr seeks to win over her. His friend Skirnir borrows the god's horse and sword and does the advertising. He rides through the Waberlohe around Gerda's house, but at first cannot make the beautiful woman who mourns the death of her brother ( Beli ?) Inclined to his plans. Both son is Fjolnir .

She was considered the protector of home and court, fitting to the protection of fertility by Freyr, so that she is a personification of the garden .
