Gerhard Hölzke

Gerhard Hölzke (* 1934 ) is a former German canoeist . He was multiple master of the GDR.

Life

Hölzke began his athletic career at the Magdeburg district Fermersleben based BSG Stahl South , later BSG Motor Southeast Magdeburg. A first major success in 1951 were the second places achieved together with Rolf Leue in the III. World Festival over 500 meters in two-person canoes and two-person kayaks in the youth area.

In the GDR championship in 1954, he won over 10,000 meters in the two-man Canadians with Rolf Leue. After a training camp in Berlin , Hölzke took part in an international regatta in Romania in the same year . At the II. Germany Youth Meeting, Leue and Hölzke won the 1,000 and 10,000 meters in the two-man Canadians. In 1955, the two won the GDR championship title over these routes, which they were able to defend in 1956. Hölzke was also part of the team when he won the GDR championship of the BSG in the canadian ten over 1,000 meters in 1957. Together with Rolf Leue, he succeeded in defending the championship title again over 1,000 meters. The Hölke / Leue team won the GDR championship one last time in 1958, this time again over 1,000 and 10,000 meters. In 1959 they were once again GDR runner-up over 1,000 meters and third place over 10,000 meters. In 1960 there was the silver medal over 1,000 meters.
