Gerhard Puttfarcken

Gerhard Puttfarcken (born November 1946 ) is a former German Airbus manager.

Puttfarcken grew up in Celle and spent his school days in Wuppertal . In 1966 he passed his Abitur at the Carl-Duisberg-Gymnasium and then studied until 1972 at the University of Cologne with a degree in business administration . He initially worked at Krupp Systems as a systems analyst in IT, then switched to data processing at Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm in Hamburg in 1976 , where in 1979 he took over the management of the main system development department. This was followed by a time in materials management, in 1982 head of the main material planning department and finally in 1985 overall responsibility for materials management.

From 1987 to 1993, Puttfarcken then took on overall responsibility for data processing at Deutsche Airbus. From 1994 to 1999 he was responsible for the management of the largest German aviation site Hamburg-Finkenwerder, responsible u. a. for production and final assembly of the Airbus A318 and A321 with 8,000 employees at the time. From 1999 to 2001 he was in charge of the program for the German construction of the Airbus A380 . From 2001 to 2002, as Senior Vice President, he was program manager with overall responsibility for the entire Airbus single-aisle family A318 / 19/20/21.

From January 2003 to December 2007 he was CEO of Airbus Germany, responsible for seven German Airbus locations with 22,000 employees. In this capacity, Puttfarcken was a member of the plenary session of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, deputy chairman of the board of the Hamburg Industry Association, head of the aviation committee of the BDLI in Berlin (Federal Association of the German Aerospace Industry) and the ASD in Brussels (AeroSpace and Defense Industries Association of Europe ). In 2007 he retired.
