Gerhard Rupp

Gerhard Rupp (born February 11, 1978 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). He has been a member of the Styrian State Parliament since 2005 .

Gerhard Rupp began his political career as a member of the Socialist Youth Graz whose chairman he became in 2001. From 2000 to 2001 he was the managing director of the Graz VSStÖ and in 2000 he also became a mandate in the university representation of the Austrian Students' Union Graz and in the faculty representation in law. He finally became deputy chairman of the Faculty Representation in Law and subsequently deputy chairman of the Austrian Students' Union at the University of Graz. From 2002 to June 2010 he was chairman of the SPÖ Education Graz. Since April 2008 he has been the chairman of Naturfreunde Steiermark.

In 2004 he finished his law studies and started his professional career after a short independent activity as a speaker in the office of the City Councilor Wolfgang Riedler. Rupp works as a contract employee in the office of the Styrian state government and lives in Graz. He was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament on November 15, 2005 and is area spokesman for science in the SPÖ state parliament club.
