Gerhard Schulz (* 1966 ) is a manager and lawyer . Until 2019 he was a non-party official state secretary at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure and has been chairman of the management board of Toll Collect GmbH since March 2019 . Because of his activities in connection with the truck and car toll in Germany , Schulz was nicknamed "Mister Maut".

Life and work

Gerhard Schulz studied law and received his doctorate in 1995 from the Free University of Berlin .

Ministry of Transport

In 1995, Gerhard Schulz began his career as a consultant in the policy department in the Federal Ministry of Transport. From 2005 to 2011 he was Head of Unit. In 2014 he took over the management of the Policy Affairs department.

In March 2018, it became known that he had moved from Head of the Fundamental Matters Department to Permanent State Secretary. In May 2018 he was accepted into the supervisory board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH .

The ARD magazine Panorama accused him in a report that he had intervened in favor of Toll Collect against the Berlin public prosecutor's office when the Berlin public prosecutor had initiated an investigation against those responsible at Toll Collect on suspicion of fraud. A previously fired employee had made these allegations public to the public prosecutor; Toll Collect denies the allegations.

Schulz finally decided to switch to the management of Toll Collect GmbH at the beginning of 2019. As a civil servant for life , he was given leave of absence as a state secretary when he switched to Toll Collect GmbH.

Toll Collect

After moving to Toll Collect GmbH , Schulz became chairman of the management board, but at the same time retained his position on the supervisory board of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. Because of his role in the attempt to realize the failed car toll, he came into the center of criticism in addition to Minister Andreas Scheuer personally.
