Gerhard Zotz

Gerhard Zotz (born June 23, 1960 in Aitrang ) is a German botanist who holds the chair for functional ecology at the University of Oldenburg .

Life

Gerhard Zotz, who comes from the Austro-German entrepreneur, artist and scholarly family Zotz , studied biology at the University of Würzburg , where he received his doctorate in 1993. He then carried out research in Panama and the USA. From 1995 to 2000 he continued to work at the University of Würzburg, where he completed his habilitation in 1998. From 2001 onwards, Zotz taught and researched at the Botanical Institute of the University of Basel. Gerhard Zotz has been Professor of Functional Ecology at the Institute for Biology and Environmental Sciences at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg since 2006 .

Gerhard Zotz's main research interests are the interfaces between population biology and plant ecophysiology as well as tropical ecology. At the University of Oldenburg he heads the working group “Functional Ecology of Plants”.
