German Life and Letters

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

German Life and Letters (abbreviated: GLL ) is a quarterly British trade journal in which literary articles on German literature are published. In addition, essays on language, art and culture in Germany as well as socio-historical and political topics appear in the journal.

German Life and Letters was founded in 1936 by the Germanist LA Willoughby and the publisher Basil Blackwell. Initially, the magazine should report on cultural topics and current news from Germany. After it was temporarily discontinued in 1939, it was re-established in 1947 as a more conventional specialist journal and has since offered a mixture of literary and non-literary articles.
