Organization and members

The German Testing Board is led by Klaudia Dussa-Zieger (Chair), Matthias Hamburg (Deputy Chair) and Horst Pohlmann (Deputy Chair). Armin Metzger is the managing director of the GTB. Andreas Spillner is an honorary member of the GTB.

The GTB board consists of voluntary members who all come from practice. In the German-speaking area, the GTB works closely with the Austrian Testing Board (ATB) and the Swiss Testing Board (STB). At the international level, the German Testing Board is represented as a founding member in the umbrella organization, the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) . The umbrella organization guarantees the uniformity and comparability of the teaching and examination content in all participating countries.

For the TTCN-3 certificate, a standard for testing communication protocols, the GTB works closely with the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) , which is developing the TTCN-3 standard.

Personal, sponsoring and honorary members are represented in the GTB. The personal members are natural persons who are technically competent and willing to actively participate in the work of the GTB. To ensure efficient professional work, the GTB has limited the number of personal members to around 20. The admission of new personal members depends in particular on the criteria of professional qualification of the person, suitability of the institution or company to which the person belongs. Any natural or legal person or other association of persons who is willing to support and promote the goals of the GTB can be a supporting member of the GTB. At the suggestion of the board, the general assembly can unanimously award honorary membership for life to members or other personalities who have significantly promoted or supported the work of the GTB. Honorary member of the GTB is Andreas Spillner, who is also a founding member.

Training providers and certification bodies

Certified tester training courses may only be offered and carried out by training companies that the GTB has accredited for the respective training level. Tests are carried out by the certification bodies authorized and named by the GTB. Interested parties can obtain information about exam dates and fees from the respective training provider or directly from the certification bodies.

The GTB provides an overview of the currently approved training companies and certification bodies on its website.

ISTQB Certified Tester

The ISTQB Certified Tester of the ISTQB is an international standard for the training and further education of software testers. The model defines training levels that build on one another, each level being defined and subdivided by an associated individual curriculum. Each level concludes with examinations on the content listed in the individual curriculum with the respective learning objectives. The model also includes rules for the accreditation of training companies, as well as framework guidelines for regulating final exams and catalogs of examination questions.

The GTB provides an overview of the current curricula on its website.
