The Germanisch-Romanische monthly (GRM) is a literary scientific journal with a comparative focus.

The publication founded by Heinrich Schröder has been appearing since 1909. After volume 31 (1943) there was an interruption of several years due to the war, before the first volume of the new series was published in 1950/51. The Germanic-Romanic monthly is thus the oldest and highest-circulation comparative trade journal in the German publishing area and one of the oldest in Europe.

The magazine is published quarterly by the University Press Winter in Heidelberg. A year currently has an average of 480 pages. The content of the booklet is usually divided into (main) articles, smaller articles and reviews of new publications. The selection of scientific texts covers the period from the European Middle Ages to the present day. According to its title, the Germanic-Romanic monthly deals with 'Germanic' philologies (i.e. German, English and American literatures) and the various literatures of Romania (i.e. French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese texts). In the past few years, the 'colonial' and postcolonial literatures of English and Spanish have also been increasingly taken into account in postcolonial studies. The publication languages are German, English and French.

The main editor in charge is Renate Stauf (Braunschweig), who has been running the magazine since 2009 with the co-editors Cord-Friedrich Berghahn (Braunschweig), Bernhard Huss (Berlin), Ansgar Nünning (Gießen) and Peter Strohschneider (Munich); Also in 2009, in the 101st year of the journal, an international scientific advisory board was formed and the selection process for the printed texts was switched to the peer review process.

Since 1979 the "Supplement to the GRM" has been published in a separate series with a monographic character. Selected dissertation and post-doctoral theses as well as conference proceedings from the spectrum of American, English, German and Romance literature and cultural studies are published here.
