Gersau (dialect)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the East Thuringian dialect, Gersau refers to a person who likes to, often and for a long time , talks to others and with whom it is fun to have a conversation. Translated into High German or other dialects, it means something like chatterbox or chatterbox . The designation is gender neutral, so it can denote both women and men. It does not have a pejorative or disparaging connotation, rather the element of sympathy and comfort predominates.

The word has an “unofficial” form of intensification. That is the "Reichsgersau". It indicates that the person named in this way seizes any unsuitable opportunity or ignores urgent requests to abort or to behave appropriately (e.g. disaster alarm).
