Complete catalog of the personal documents and funeral sermons collections

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The general catalog of the collections of personal documents and funeral sermons is a card index of historical persons, in particular of members of the upper social class, archived in Leipzig at the Central Office for German Personal and Family History in Leipzig since 1967 .

The genealogical association Roland e. V. zu Dresden started a catalog in 1919 with the aim of systematically recording all known funeral sermons , occasional prints and personal publications according to their location and preparing them for family history research.

Around 15,000 people are listed alphabetically in 225 special file boxes. This means that more than 100,000 personal publications from over 450 collections have been processed. Due to the multiple delivery of individual prints, there is evidence of approx. 324,000 prints. For each person there is an index card with information on the life dates, offices, family members, form and printing of the funeral sermon or occasional writing with place and year, author of the sermon and where it was found. The catalog is arranged according to the persons honored, not according to the authors.
