The comprehensive school Osterfeld (GSO) is a comprehensive school in Oberhausen Osterfeld . It is one of the largest schools in North Rhine-Westphalia with a student body of over 1,500 students, often eight-year classes and around 140 active teachers.
history
The GSO was founded on August 25, 1969 and represents the first comprehensive school attempt in the Rhineland. At that time, 15 teachers worked at the school and 262 students were taught. In 1977 the upper level started at the GSO, so that the Abitur could now be achieved there. The first year graduated in 1980 and consisted of 115 graduates. From April 1988, the Osterfeld comprehensive school was the largest school in North Rhine-Westphalia with 2013 pupils.
In 2014 the school building was completely renovated so that there are now some digitally equipped classrooms.
School concept
The GSO offers a wide range of funding programs. Especially language support courses are omnipresent due to the high proportion of students whose mother tongue is not German.
The comprehensive school in Osterfeld is designed as an all-day school.
