from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protected landscape component of the old clay pit with an area of 2.82  hectares is located on the northern edge of Brilon . The protected area was designated as a protected landscape component (LB) in 2008 with the Brilon plateau landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . He is one of 38 LBs in the urban area of Brilon. The LB borders directly on the settlement area in the south and east. A little to the north is the Brilon bypass.

Area description

The protected landscape component is an abandoned clay pit from a brick factory that was formerly adjacent . A structurally rich secondary biotope has developed. In the clay pit there is still water with strongly fluctuating water levels, underwater vegetation and muddy banks in the northeast half. The water is of great importance as an amphibian spawning site and habitat for dragonflies. The water is a legally protected biotope according to § 30 BNatSchG . There are around 8 m high steep walls in the clay pit. Most of the pit area is overgrown with trees.

The landscape plan states: “To preserve the diversity of habitats for birds, insects, small mammals and other animal groups, the proportion of open space here should be increased by sporadic felling, so that previously existing, open raw soil proportions increase again. In addition, there are still scrap scraps in the area that should be removed. "

Protection purpose

The LB was designated because of its regional and scenic importance. It is a protected area, a culturally stressed and natural part of the landscape, which with its independent character clearly differs from the surrounding forest and field landscape. The landscape plan states: “The special protection of these small structures is necessary because of their prominent position for the efficiency of the natural balance and / or for the attractiveness of the landscape. The LB determination takes into account the landscape significance of the objects, which it sets out above the "normal" landscape inventory of an LSG. "

Prohibitions

As with other Protected Landscapes, the prohibition of damaging, tearing up, digging up or severing parts of it or otherwise impairing its growth or appearance has been established. Proper care of trees and shrubs is permitted by putting shrub species and individual trees on the sticks. This also includes pesticides, organic or mineral fertilizers, soil improvers and animal feed. The appearance can be impaired in particular by attaching raised ladders, high hunting seats, fences and advertising media.
