Protected landscape component Alter Postweg

The protected landscape component of the Alter Postweg with an area of 0.67  hectares is located in the area of the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The LB was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen.

description

Description in the landscape plan: “The landscape component extends between Selbecker Straße and Mäckinger Bachtal near Selbecke. It is a well-developed ravine with species-rich vegetation along the old post route to Breckerfeld . ”It is a 3.8 km long path that has been used for centuries, nowhere more than two meters wide and very steep. In the lower section, the gradient to around 320 meters is around 20 percent, the following distance of around 520 meters to the so-called horse place is still 16 percent. After the construction of the Chaussee 1788–1794, over which the L528 runs today, the “Alte Postweg” became deserted and was only used as a business and hiking route. The ravine is located in the Rafflenbeuler Kopf nature reserve .

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation was made “to ensure the efficiency of the natural balance by preserving a habitat, especially for numerous, partly threatened fern and moss species, to revitalize and maintain the landscape by preserving a distinctive and historically significant landscape element and to ward off harmful effects on the ravine through the woods on the upper edge of the embankment.
