The Rafflenbeuler Kopf landscape protection area with an area of ​​268.95  hectares is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The landscape protection area (LSG) was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen.

In the west, the Köttinger Bachtal separates the LSG from the Selbecke nature reserve . In the north is the Selbecke district. To the east lies the Mäckinger Bachtal with the LWL open-air museum Hagen and the Eilper Berg / Langenberg nature reserve . In the south then the Breckerfeld nature reserve in the urban area of Breckerfeld .

In the LSG there are mainly wooded areas which are divided by stream valleys with springs and small bodies of water. In addition, the protected landscape component "Alter Postweg".

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation was made “to maintain and restore the efficiency of the natural balance, in particular by securing natural habitats, because of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the landscape, characterized by a large number of wooded stream valleys with springs and small bodies of water and because of the special importance of the forest area for recreational use geared towards experiencing nature ”.
