Selbecke conservation area

The Selbecke conservation area with an area of ​​850.05  ha is located in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The landscape protection area (LSG) was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen.

Built-up areas border the LSG in the west, north-west, north and north-east. In the southwest that borders the conservation area Kettelberg and yard choice , to the south the conservation area Breckerfeld in the city of Breckerfeld and in the southeast, the landscape conservation area Rafflenbeuler head on.

In the LSG there are mainly forest areas with a large number of wooded stream valleys with springs and small bodies of water. The LSG is home to the Kaiser Friedrich Tower , Bismarck Tower and Eugen Richter Tower , the Hagen observatory , the “Im Deerth” drug clinic, the Riegerberg television tower, a children's home and a wildlife park.

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation was made "to maintain and restore the efficiency of the natural balance, in particular by securing natural habitats, because of the diversity, uniqueness and beauty of the landscape, in particular of the Selbecker Bachtal and because of its special importance as a forest recreation area with wildlife park".
