Max Walter Svanberg (born February 21, 1912 in Malmö , Sweden ; † May 28, 1994 ibid) was a Swedish, surrealist painter and graphic artist.

life and work

Max Walter Svanberg made his first sculpture at the age of ten. In 1931 he started studying at the art academy. He had his first exhibition in 1935. In 1946 Svanberg founded the avant-garde artist group Imaginisterna together with Carl-Otto Hultén and Anders Österlin . In 1949 he met the Dutch Karel Appel , Constant and Corneille , who were members of the CoBrA movement. There was a short collaboration. In 1965 Svanberg was awarded the Prince Eugen Medal for Painting.
