Anders Österlin (* 1926 in Malmö , Sweden ; † October 20, 2011 there ) was a Swedish painter .
life and work
Anders Österlin founded the avant-garde artist group Imaginisterna in 1946 together with Carl-Otto Hultén and Max Walter Svanberg . Österlin came into contact with CoBrA through Asger Jorn . He joined the group and was represented with works at the exhibition in Amsterdam in 1949 and in Liège in 1951 . In 2007, Österlin received the City of Malmö's Culture Prize. He realized several works of art in public spaces.
“Österlin's lyrical painting of the first post-war period is based on Paul Klee and on certain forms of folk art. In the following years, in his mostly abstract work, he surrenders to the game with nested levels, through which his pictures take on the character of collages. "
