Protected landscape component on the hanging man

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The protected landscape component on the hanging man is an area of 0.87  hectares , northwest of Borntosten , in the urban area of Marsberg . In 2008 it was designated as a protected landscape component in the Marsberg landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . It only borders the open spaces around Giershagen type B landscape protection area .

description

On a rocky knoll there is a small remnant of lean grassland that has fallen fallow. In the north and south it is framed by a strip of fat grassland. The center of the summit is too rocky, which is why the originally vast, poor grassland has only been preserved here. Individual bushes are scattered across the area, while larger bushes grow on the eastern edge. In connection with the surrounding lean grasslands, the area is to be regarded as an important refuge biotope for the species communities of the extensively used grassland in the intensively used grassland. In the protected part of the landscape on the hanging man there is almost only grassland . The grassland is used as pasture , mostly with cattle , and as a hay meadow.

The protected landscape component on the hanging man is practically identical to the legally protected biotope of the same name according to § 30 BNatSchG. The legally protected biotope has been designated as poor meadows and pastures . The biotope area is specified in the biotope register by the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection in North Rhine-Westphalia as 0.84 ha, the landscape plan gives the size as 0.52 ha.

Protection purpose

The designation was carried out to protect and maintain poor grassland through extensive agricultural use.
