The protected landscape component Bachaue Steinberg with an area of ​​5.0  hectares is located east of Garenfeld in the area of ​​the independent city of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The LB was designated in 1994 with the landscape plan of the city of Hagen by the city council of Hagen. The LB is west of Villigster Strasse and includes the upper reaches of the Steinbergbach including the grassland floodplain.

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation took place:

  • "To ensure the efficiency of the natural balance by maintaining an extensively used floodplain as a habitat, especially for rare animal and plant species in the nutrient-poor wet meadows and pastures as well as the river communities,
  • for structuring, revitalizing and maintaining the landscape by preserving characteristic landscape elements.
  • for structuring, revitalizing and maintaining the landscape by maintaining relief structures that shape the landscape and extensive forms of land use and
  • to ward off harmful effects on the running water by reducing the entry of fertilizers and plant treatment agents and the impairment caused by cattle kicks. "

Bid in the LB

In addition to the extensive prohibitions and requirements for all protected landscape components in Hagen, the following requirements were issued for this LB in the landscape plan:

  • “The care of the meadow by mowing once or twice a year and removing the cuttings; In some areas, care can also be provided by grazing with max. two livestock units / ha take place,
  • Renaturation of the Steinbergbach, in particular the lifting of the creek impoundments and the restoration of the original river bed,
  • the planting of riparian trees,
  • the lifting of the landfill below the small body of water and
