In gift paper wrapped present (Engl. Poison = "gift, gift")

Wrapping paper is a specialization of packaging paper , the main task of which is to protect it in transit . With the industrialization of the paper industry and better printing techniques, single-colored wrapping papers developed into multicolored wrapping papers with different motifs. Since then, retailers have been using these papers in the form of sheets or Secare rolls as an additional service for their customers. These sheets of paper were usually found under the counter or next to the cash register. The large rolls of several hundred meters, on the other hand, were stretched on unwinding devices that were either attached to the wall or the counter.

Today, many stores offer the service of gift packaging to, for example, in department stores (here often at an additional charge) and bookstores (here typically as a free service). Industrially manufactured wrapping paper is now available in retail stores in a large selection for the end consumer, usually in the form of (small) rolls that are covered with plastic for protection. In addition to these rolls, you can also find a number of gift wrap designs in sheet format in various specialty paper shops ; these can then have a relief or be treated with special materials such as glitter glue .

Since this special form of wrapping paper is used for wrapping gifts , there is a separation of the motifs for the different occasions on which the giving of gifts is common. In industry, a distinction is made between year-round and seasonal collections , with Christmas wrapping paper being the most noticeable among seasonal goods . Special wrapping paper is now available for a wide variety of occasions, including birthdays , weddings , Mother's Day and anniversaries.

Since the wrapping paper not only serves as transport protection, but also as a privacy screen, it is suitable to offer the recipient a surprise and excitement when unpacking. It is therefore often used for children's birthdays or when giving presents . As an ecological alternative to the gift packaging, which is available in many patterns and colors, you can also use newsprint or similar products that would otherwise be waste. Textile wrapping paper variants with knots, such as the Furoshiki , or with lacing are sustainable , because they are reusable . You can also produce individually made wrapping paper yourself at home on the printer or send this template to a printer or a photo laboratory.
