Flavor
Flavors are substances that stimulate the sense of taste . The perception of flavors takes place via the tongue , which has receptors for sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami . Most other taste impressions are based on fragrances and are perceived through the nose . Flavors can be divided into sweeteners , acidifiers , salts , bitter substances and flavor enhancers .
