Alexandra of Luxembourg
Alexandra Joséphine Teresa Charlotte Marie Wilhelmine von Nassau (born February 16, 1991 in the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg ) is Princess of Luxembourg , Princess of Nassau and Bourbon-Parma . She is the daughter of the Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and his wife Maria Teresa Mestre y Batista and has three older and one younger brother. Since the constitutional amendment in 2011, she has been on the succession list . She ranks sixth after her two older brothers, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and Prince Félix of Luxembourg, as well as her niece Princess Amalia and her nephews Prince Liam and Prince Charles. Her third older brother Louis had renounced his claims to the throne before his wedding.
Since her 18th birthday in 2009, Alexandra became the first Luxembourg princess to hold the Nassau House Order of the Golden Lion .
Life
Alexandra first attended elementary school in Angelsberg before she successfully completed the Lycée Vauban in Luxembourg in 2009 with the Abitur (Baccalauréat de lettres et littérature) with distinction. She then studied in Rome for a while . Since 2010 she has been studying psychology and social sciences at university in the United States .
Tasks and interests
Alexandra regularly takes part in the activities of the grand ducal family and official events such as the national holiday or the closing ceremony of the Octave of Our Lady . In November 2017, Princess Alexandra accompanied Grand Duke Henri instead of her mother on a state visit to Japan lasting several days.

In addition, the princess has taken on the patronage of the Lëtzebuerger Déiereschutzliga (Luxembourg Animal Welfare League ) and the Fondation Lëtzebuerger Blannevereenendung , whose aim is to improve the everyday life of the blind and visually impaired.

A shrub rose variety from the W. Kordes' Söhne breeding company was named after her Alexandra - Princesse de Luxembourg in 2009 on the occasion of Alexandra's 18th birthday .
