Guillaume of Luxembourg
Guillaume Jean Joseph Marie von Nassau (born November 11, 1981 in Luxembourg ) is the eldest son of Henri , Grand Duke of Luxembourg , Duke of Nassau . He bears the titles of "Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg", " Hereditary Prince of Nassau" and since December 18, 2000 also "Prince of Bourbon-Parma ".

childhood and education
Prince Guillaume was born on November 11, 1981 in Luxembourg as the first of five children of Grand Duke Henri and his wife Maria Teresa . After completing primary school, the prince attended the Robert Schumann grammar school (Lycée Robert Schuman) in Luxembourg up to eighth grade and then moved to the Collège Alpin International Beau Soleil in Switzerland, where he passed the French Abitur in 2001.
The prince then completed a one-year military training course at Sandhurst Military Academy in Great Britain. In 2002 he began studying politics and history at the University of Durham in the UK. In September 2005 he moved to Brunel University in London (international politics). In June 2009 he successfully completed his political science studies at the University of Angers , France .
marriage and family
On April 28, 2012, the Hereditary Grand Duke got engaged to the Belgian Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy . The civil ceremony took place on October 19, 2012, the church ceremony on the following day in the Cathedral of Our Lady by Archbishop Jean-Claude Hollerich . In December 2019 it was announced that the Hereditary Grand Ducal couple was expecting their first child. The child of the Hereditary Grand Ducal Couple was born on May 10, 2020 at 5:13 a.m. in Luxembourg City. It was named Charles Jean Philippe Joseph Marie Guillaume.
Tasks and interests
Since his appointment as Hereditary Grand Duke on December 18, 2000, Prince Guillaume has been attending more and more official events. He has been a member of the Luxembourg State Council since June 24, 2005. As President of the “Fondation Kräizbierg”, he works for the disabled. He acts as patron for the headquarters of the youth hostels, the youth orchestra of the European Union and the Luxembourg cycling association. Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume was appointed lieutenant colonel in the army by a grand ducal decree . He is fluent in Luxembourgish , German , French and English as well as Spanish .

Commemorative coins
Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume has also been honored twice with commemorative coins by the Luxembourg state . The first was released in 2006 on the occasion of his 25th birthday, the other for his wedding in 2012.
