Prince Jean Félix Marie Guillaume of Luxembourg (born May 15, 1957 at Betzdorf Castle , Betzdorf , Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg prince and entrepreneur.

family

Jean is a son of the former Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg and his wife, Princess Joséphine Charlotte of Belgium and brother of Grand Duke Henri, who has ruled since 2000 . He has a twin sister named Margaretha, who is married to Prince Nikolaus von Liechtenstein .

The prince lives in Paris , where he also met his wife Helene Vestur. They married on May 27, 1987 and have four children: Marie-Gabrielle (* 1986), Constantin (* 1988), Wenceslas (* 1990) and Carl-Johann (* 1992). Jean of Luxembourg renounced his succession to the throne on September 26, 1986; he has been married to Diane de Guerre (* 1962) for the second time since 2009. According to a grand ducal decree of November 27, 2004, his children bear the title Prince / Princesse de Nassau with the salutation Royal Highness , but remain without the right of succession.

Career

Jean von Luxemburg studied in Luxemburg, Switzerland and France. After attending the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst , he received his officer license in 1977 . In 1979 he became a captain in the armed forces of Luxembourg . In 1986 he did his Master of Business Administration at Insead . He later worked in the financial sector and in the water industry.

Prince Jean has had to defend himself in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg since 2005 on suspicion of being involved in the " bombing affair ", although the related conspiracy-theoretical rumors and hostility against him have existed for decades.

Prince Jean was president of the French-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, is an advisor to the energy company Engie (formerly GDF Suez), executive vice-president of the Suez Fondation , board member of the drinking water manufacturer Degrémont (a spin-off from Suez SA ). In 2006 he acquired Suez Environnement's South African subsidiary WSSA (Water & Sanitation South Africa) and brought it under the umbrella of his Luxembourg holding company Mea Aqua , a company with over 2,500 employees today, which offers drinking water solutions in Africa and the Middle East.
