history

The GVC emerged from the "Working Group for Consumer Goods Technology" founded at the VDI in 1934, whose first chairman was Arnold Eucken . In 1938 the name was changed to “Technical Committee Process Engineering”, 1953 to “Technical Group Process Engineering” and 1960 to “Process Engineering Society (VTG) in the VDI”.

The restructuring of the VDI into companies and the extensive correspondence between process engineering and chemical engineering were the reason for the renaming to "GVC · VDI-Gesellschaft process engineering and chemical engineering" from March 15, 1974. In the course of this restructuring, the "VDI- Specialist group food technology “in the GVC. In 2007 DECHEMA , the Society for Chemical Technology and Biotechnology eV, and VDI-GVC merged their specialist committees under the common umbrella ProcessNet .
