GTKos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GTKos (Society of Theater Costume Makers ) is a non-commercially oriented network for employees of costume departments at theaters in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland as well as freelance costume designers from the theater and film sector.

Goals and Activities

The GTKos offers those involved continuous information, contact and exchange through specialist meetings, seminars and workshops. It is also dedicated to representing the wishes and interests of costume makers to the outside world (e.g. to professional associations and institutions) and to maintaining and promoting professions in the costume sector that are not training professions but so-called inclined professions (such as setup master) costume painter, costume dyer or fund manager).

Origin and plans

The GTKos emerged from the meetings of the costume directors of the German-speaking theaters, which took place from 2002. At the international trade fair Showtech 2007, the first conference of costume makers was held with around 250 participants, at which the professional groups were set up, in which those working in the various theater costume professions have been exchanging and meeting regularly since then. Around 300 costume designers took part in the follow-up conference on the occasion of Showtech 2009. At the general assembly of the GTKos during Showtech 2011 on June 8, 2011, the founding of the association was unanimously decided, which was carried out in 2013 with the entry at the Stuttgart District Court. The network currently has two speakers for the overall appearance as well as speakers for the individual professional groups. Conferences continue to take place every two years, plus seminars and other meetings of individual specialist groups.
