Association founded in Berlin in 1995 (GFTP eV), which publishes theological articles through the magazine for theology and congregation (ZThG) it publishes and organizes annual symposia on contemporary theological issues. The GFTP advocates contemporary Christianity in ecumenical diversity and also wants lay people to participate in theological issues. Especially in the free church area, she would like to do theological educational work to counteract fundamentalist currents.

The GFTP is registered in the register of associations of the City of Hamburg and is officially recognized as a non-profit and science-promoting organization. It currently has around 160 members. Membership is open to everyone regardless of their denomination or religious affiliation.

The chair is the Baptist church historian Andrea Strübind .
