profile

The GMK wants to promote media education and communication culture in the Federal Republic and help shape it responsibly. The GMK regularly offers specialist conferences, nationwide, state-wide and regional expert networks and publishes numerous books.

With the Dieter Baacke Prize , GMK, together with the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth, honors exemplary, primarily extracurricular media educational projects with children, young people and families across Germany. Dieter Baacke , a German media educator, was its chairman from 1984 to 1999.

Marion Brüggemann, Sabine Eder, Rüdiger Fries, Thomas Knaus , Dorothee Meister , Claudia Mikat, Kristin Narr, Martina Schuegraf and Angela Tillmann are currently active on the federal board.
