Society for Interdisciplinary Scientific Criminology

The Society for Interdisciplinary Scientific Criminology (GiwK) is an association of scientists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland who stand in the tradition of critical criminology . It was founded on June 9, 1989 as part of a scientific event of the Working Group of Young Criminologists (AJK) in Wuppertal .

The chairman of the GiwK is the Dortmund sociologist Axel Groenemeyer (as of 2016). The society maintains two sections (“Gender Perspectives” and “History and Criminology”), which meet regularly for workshops. The journal closely related to the company is the Kriminologische Journal .

Every two years the society awards the “ Fritz Sack Prize for Criminology”, the last winner (2015) was Christina Schlepper ( University of Duisburg-Essen ).
