The law on the foreign service contains provisions on the foreign service and its careers .

The law consists of ten sections. The first section regulates the tasks, position and organization of the Foreign Service. The second section contains regulations on the deployment, working methods and equipment of the Foreign Service. The third section contains provisions on the legal relationships of the members of the foreign service. The fourth section contains paragraphs on the duties and rights of civil servants and the fifth section contains care regulations for spouses and families. In the sixth section there are regulations on welfare in cases of crisis and in the event of extraordinary burdens, and in the seventh section regulations on housing welfare and for relocations. The eighth section covers international-related services and the ninth section contains the legal relationships of the non-posted employees. The tenth section contains final provisions on data protection, general administrative provisions, transitional regulations and the entry into force of the law.
