Law on compulsory schooling in the German Reich of 6 July 1938

The law on compulsory schooling in the German Reich , or Reich Compulsory Schooling Act for short , of July 6, 1938, amended by the law of May 16, 1941, regulated compulsory schooling in the German Reich . With the introduction of the Basic Law , it passed into state legislation.

The school age was initially set as follows: “For all children who have reached the age of 6 by June 30, the obligation to attend elementary school begins at the beginning of the school year.” From 1941, with transitional regulations until 1942, it was: “For everyone Children who reach the age of 6 in the course of the calendar year are required to attend primary school at the beginning of the school year.
