Talk concert

Discussion concert is the name for a form of concert that tries, with the help of explanations, to give the audience an insight into the pieces listed and the circumstances in which they were created, the subject matter of the pieces from a philosophical, sociological or cultural-historical perspective. This is usually done by a speaker who can be one of the musicians himself (e.g. the conductor ). Reciters, actors or experts in the respective subject often take on this task.

There are z. E.g. letters or diary entries of the composer are read out to explain his motives, or the work of a composer, a style, an epoch, a region etc. is placed in a larger context. This type of concert is very widespread, as long as it is a musicological discussion concert, at universities and music schools, as it is primarily not intended for entertainment, but for teaching.
