Gesseln

Gesseln is a farming community in the Elsen district of Paderborn . It was first mentioned in a document from 1209 as 'Gestelen'.

In Gesseln there is the Gesseln rifle club in 1906 and the “Eilbote Gesseln” carrier pigeon club founded in 1949 . The shooting club organizes several festivals a year, including the family festival, the bird shooting at Whitsun and the annual shooting festival on the third weekend in July.

On August 30, 2009 the anniversary celebration for the 800th anniversary of Gesseln took place.
