Single house on stilts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A stilted single house is a farmhouse where the stable is located under the living area. This arrangement is regarded as a form of reduction of larger systems, which was mainly created in southwest Germany as a result of the real estate division .

In terms of design, it is a single-ridge courtyard . Often the basement (cellar and stable) is made of quarry stone, the upper floor (living area) in half-timbered construction.

Regional distribution

Stilted Einfirsthöfe occur mainly in sloping terrain. They are widespread in the Palatinate Forest, the Northern Black Forest and the Northern Vosges. Here the real estate division led to small operating units with correspondingly small built-up space.
