A beverage dispenser is a device for the direct removal and dosing of drinkable liquids from a beverage store.

The underlying mechanism for removal varies depending on the nature and type. The most common beverage dispenser models work, depending on the type of beverage, with a pump or pressure mechanism via a nozzle device. The output takes place manually or via a semi-automatic or automatic device. The capacity of the individual models as well as the types of housing vary greatly depending on requirements and type of application, mostly dispensers made of acrylic and stainless steel have proven themselves.

Use of beverage dispensers

In public areas, such as sales rooms or offices, the most popular types of beverage dispensers are water dispensers . In addition to cooling the drinks, certain models also allow them to be heated.

Beverage dispensers are used in catering establishments and the hotel industry. The cold beverage dispensers are particularly suitable for serving non-carbonated beverages, such as fruit juices . Many types of dispensers also work with a stirring paddle or a rotating pump wheel in order to avoid both foam formation and the settling of solids on the bottom of the beverage body. Another type of beverage dispenser is a bottle holder for alcoholic beverages, in which the beverage bottle is placed "upside down" on a dosing attachment. The dosage is variable between 2 cl and 45 ml and is suitable for operating a bar.

In the private sector, thermos flasks with a pump function ( piston pump ) are mostly used to dispense hot drinks.

Cooling systems

Conventional beverage dispensers control the cooling temperature of the beverage to be removed via a secured cooling system with the help of a so-called cooling coil . This beverage cooling coil cools a beverage flowing through it to a certain, fixed temperature value. More modern models use an external, electronic cooling element, which is attached to the outside of the tank wall and whose technology uses the Peltier effect . Dispensers for chilled juice beverages usually have a cooling unit with a circulation pump and thus allow a manually adjustable beverage temperature. Professional devices in the catering industry can also have compressor cooling.
