Union sale trade transport food

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Union for Sale Trade Transport Food (VHTL) was a Swiss union .

The VHTL was created in 1915 from the merger of the Association of Food and Beverage Workers ( VLG) with the Association of Trade and Transport Workers (VHT). Originally the initials VHTL stood for Association of Trade, Transport and Food Workers ; In 1981 the company was renamed the Union for Sale, Trade, Transport, Food . On the one hand , this took account of the trend at the time to make the expression trade union visible in the name, and at the same time the word sale was used to try to distinguish itself as the workers' organization in the retail trade. The union was always based in Zurich . At times, the VHTL also administered the International Union of Food and Agriculture Workers ( IUL ), which had moved its headquarters from Vienna to Zurich during the period of Austro and Hitlerite fascism.

The VHTL had 42,000 members in its prime after the war; At the end of 2003, however, it was only 14,436. On October 15, 2004, the VHTL Congress decided to join the newly founded Unia union .
