Thread grooves

The thread forming or thread pressing is a manufacturing method for the preparation of threads . It belongs to the group of impressions that belongs to pressure forming .

With thread forming, internal threads are produced by screwing a thread former into an existing cylindrical bore . The elevations of the tool are pressed into the surface of the workpiece. There is a sliding movement between the tool and the workpiece surface, which is why lubricants are particularly important in this process. With thread forming, the fiber flow in the workpiece is not interrupted, which has a beneficial effect on the strength of the thread, while the fiber flow is interrupted in the more common methods of thread cutting , thread turning or tapping .
