The Ghazi Stadium ( Pashto :غازي لوبغالي; Dari :غازى ستديوم) is a multifunctional and the national stadium of Afghanistan in Kabul . The stadium holds 25,000 spectators and is currently used primarily for football matches , but also for concerts and celebrations. A buzkaschi game traditionally takes place at the end of October .
The Ghazi Stadium was built and opened in 1923 and renovated in March 2002. The first international football match in this stadium took place on January 1, 1941 between Afghanistan and Iran and ended 0-0. During the Taliban regime, the stadium was used for public executions, mutilations and torture.
